For issue #46 of Peloton Magazine, October 2015, I was thrilled for the cover to feature Nairo Quintana, arguably my favorite cyclist (at the time).
I've included many thumbnails of cover design that were left on the cutting room floor, with the larger images being a few of my favorites. These unused ideas also show the evolutionary process on how I arrived at the final versions. I love a good variant and often find the best work comes out of designplay. You can also see how heavily-edited the subscription cover is — that's the one with Nairo wearing the baseball cap on the yellow-green background. I rarely like to use things as they come stock, so I put a slightly retro-vintage feel on the cover. I also paid homage to Andy Warhol's script lettering on his Interview magazine.
